Bakery CEO wanted journalist Bailey’s source killed

The Your Black Muslim Bakery CEO pondered killing his brother-in-law because he was giving information to journalist Chauncey Bailey about the bakery, according to a transcript of grand jury testimony. But Yusuf Bey IV backed off ordering Ali Saleem Bey killed because he didn’t want to anger his older sister, Saleem Bey’s wife, according to the testimony in April by Devaughndre Broussard, the confessed killer of Bailey.

Two defendants plead not guilty in Oakland journalist slaying case; 800 pages of testimony ordered released

OAKLAND — A judge on Thursday afternoon refused to impose a gag order on lawyers and others involved in the Chauncey Bailey murder case and also ordered the release of 800 pages of grand jury testimony. Also Thursday, Bey IV and Mackey each pleaded not guilty to triple murder charges.

Max Dunlap, convicted of masterminding the car-bomb assassination of Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles, died Tuesday at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Tucson, according to a Department of Corrections spokesperson.

Former Your Black Muslim Bakery associate arrested in Missouri

Ajuwon Fardjamaal Muhammad, 25, a former Your Black Muslim Bakery associate wanted in two California counties, has been arrested in St. Louis. Muhammad is wanted in Alameda County for his alleged role in the New Year’s Eve beating of an East Oakland man; he’s charged with battery with serious bodily injury and criminal threats. He also currently faces two counts of receiving stolen property in San Joaquin County.
